World Environment Day 2016 in Nepal

World environment day is also called Eco Day or Environment Day or WED.
World Environment Day (WED) is celebrated every year on JUNE 5 to raise global awareness to take positive environmental action to protect nature and the planet Earth. It is run by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
As the globe, know that World Environment Day is celebrated on the 5 June every year by all countries. As the globe does, Nepal also celebrates Environment Day on this June 5. It means World Environment Day in Nepal is in 5 June every year. Nepal is also observing WED since some years.
But according to Nepali calendar, World Environment Day 2016 falls in 23 Jyestha 2073. So, Nepal observe the world environment day on the Jyestha 23, 2073 Sunday. United Nations promotes WED on 5 June every year. The objective for celebrating this day is to spread awareness about environment.
The celebration of World Environment Day began in 1972. Therefore, first world environment day is in 1973. The United Nations General Assembly established WED in 1972. UNEP enables everyone to realize not only the responsibility to care for our Earth, but also reminds everyone of their individual power to become agents of change. Environment Day is a big celebration in the globe. Millions of people engage across the globe through events in over 70 countries. World Environment Day in Nepal is an also big celebration.
